Godley to start Monday vs. Mets
Right-hander Zack Godley’s audition for the vacancy in the Diamondbacks rotation is continuing as Godley will start Monday against the Mets, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo announced Friday.
This will be Godley’s third start of the season since right-hander Shelby Miller was sidelined with elbow problems. Miller underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this week.
In his most recent outing, Godley was solid, giving up just one run off four hits through seven innings in a win over the Tigers Wednesday.
“There was a few moving parts,” Lovullo said. “We wanted to look through some different options, and we felt like he was the right guy. He deserved it. He threw the ball extremely well his last start, and we’ll look forward to seeing what he can do Monday.”
In other pitching news, the Diamondbacks reinstated right-hander Jake Barrett from the 10-day disabled list (right shoulder inflammation) Thursday night and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.
“He’s going to just continue on his progression,” Lovullo said. “He’s going to get regular work, and he’s going to go out and perform. As I say to everybody who goes down, it’s your turn to go and continue performing, work through the frustration of that, and they make the decisions for us when it’s the right time. Right now, our bullpen has been rock solid. This is a really tough situation for anybody to walk into and crack into. So it’s where people in Triple-A are going to have to step up and wait for their opportunity.

Pregame notes
Corbin is coming off his worst start of the season when he gave up eight runs in four-plus innings against the Rockies on Saturday at Coors Field.
Corbin has faced the Pirates three times in his career, posting a 5.09 ERA in 17 2/3 innings.
Corbin is dominating lefties (.167 average) but has struggled against right-handed hitters, who have a .301 average and .841 OPS.
Glasnow, one of the game’s more highly touted prospects, has struggled thus far in his first extended look in a big league rotation. He has pitched better his past two starts, giving up three earned runs in six-plus innings each time. Lefties own a .302 average and an OPS of .959 against him.
The 6-foot-8 Glasnow has a fastball that averages 94 mph as well as a curveball and a slider.
