According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, an unidentified individual was apprehended early Sunday morning after reports of a wrong-way driver in the West Valley.

At 11:56 p.m. Saturday, the Department of Public Safety responded to reports of a wrong-way driver in the area around Waddell Road and Loop 303, according to a Department spokesperson.

Troopers located and disabled the vehicle which blocked lanes.

The driver was non-compliant with law enforcement commands which led to the police detaining the wrong-way driver with a K-9, according to the spokesperson. The suspect was then taken into custody at around a quarter past midnight.

The roadway was closed for about one hour while officers conducted an investigation, said Arizona Department of Transportation officials.

Officials did not name the driver as of Sunday afternoon.
