The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling.

A woman traveling with two children was arrested Wednesday after U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said agents found nearly 90 pounds of methamphetamine in her car north of Yuma.

The 31-year-old woman was accused of hiding 83 packages of meth, worth more than $267,000, under the rear seat of her Honda Pilot, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol news release.

The car was stopped at an immigration checkpoint along Highway 87, according to a news release. A drug-sniffing dog alerted agents, who inspected the car further.

The woman, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling, the news release said.

The children were turned over to  the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
