Phoenix fire crews rescued a female hiker from Camelback Mountain on Thursday night.

Firefighters responded about 7 p.m. to a report of a 47-year-old female in pain after fracturing her ankle, said Capt. Jake Van Hook of the Phoenix Fire Department.

The hiker was coming down the trail and fell down at the point of the first rail where she injured herself, Van Hook said.

The hiker was brought down the mountain safely and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment, Van Hook said.
