A woman is dead after her car struck a stopped Valley Metro bus early Saturday.

The crash happened at 40th Street and Southern Avenue at 12:45 a.m.

Phoenix police said the woman was driving a small sedan west on 40th Street when she hit the bus, which was stopped at the intersection. 

The woman, who police said was approximately 30 to 40 years old, was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. 

The bus driver and passengers weren’t injured in the collision.
