A woman is dead and a man is being treated at a hospital after a shooting in Mesa early Friday. 

Police were called to an apartment complex near Lindsay and Broadway roads some time after 1 a.m. Friday on reports of shots fired.

Officers located a man with at least one gunshot wound and, in a search of the area, found a woman deceased inside an apartment unit, according to Det. Steve Berry, a Mesa Police Department spokesman. 

Berry said it wasn’t clear whether the woman had also been shot. 

Police have since obtained a search warrant for the apartment and the investigation is ongoing.
