The Phoenix Comicon guest announcements just keep rolling in.
The latest added to the lineup is actor William Shatner, who is best known as Captain James. T. Kirk from the “Star Trek” series. Shatner, 86, makes a return to Phoenix Comicon after last appearing in 2012.
Yesterday, three stars from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie franchise were announced: Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. Passes to the three-day convention, which takes place May 24-27 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will go on sale Dec. 15. Attendees can start making reservations at the host hotels on Nov. 17.
Shatner played Captain Kirk from 1966 to 1969 on the original “Star Trek” series, which was canceled in 1969. In the 1970s, “Star Trek” gained a cult following from the reruns, and Shatner became a cultural icon.
Over the years, Shatner has appeared on a number of shows including “The Practice,” “Boston Legal,” “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “Rescue 911” and the title character on the ’80s series “T.J. Hooker.”
He’s won multiple Golden Globe awards and Emmys for his role as Denny Crane on “Boston Legal” and “The Practice.” He also served as the “Priceline Negotiator” spokesperson for the travel deal website.
