Breaking down Arizona State football’s 2017 schedule

Arizona State began on-field preparations for No. 4 Washington in cool conditions Tuesday.

Quarterback Manny Wilkins was full go after taking some days off last week during a bye week.

During the portion of practice open to the media, junior Renell Wren worked with the first team defensive line at tackle along with Tashon Smallwood  and JoJo Wicker at end.

Defensive coordinator Phil Bennett said last week Wren was under consideration for a first-team job along with George Lea and Shannon Forman, who were on the second team defensive line Tuesday with Jalen Bates.

The second team defense included John Humphrey at cornerback.

Humphrey is recovered from a knee injury suffered Sept. 9 and according to coach Todd Graham could play on offense and defense. He was a starting wide receiver before his injury, catching seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against New Mexico State.

Zach Robertson was working with the first team offensive line at right tackle with Quinn Bailey at second team left tackle.

ASU (2-3, 1-1 Pac-12) will practice again Wednesday and Thursday (no media access) at Kajikawa practice fields ahead of its annual blackout game against Washington (6-0, 3-0).
