The 2017 NBA draft lottery will be held on Tuesday, May 16.
Where could the Suns be picking?
With that lottery just a little more than two months away, the Heat Index decided to take a look at Phoenix’s (as well as other teams’) odds at getting the No. 1 overall pick in the June 22 NBA draft (odds through March 13 games).

Top 5 draft lottery odds:
The Nets currently have the worst record in the NBA (but the Celtics will get their pick). They have a 25 percent chance at the No. 1 overall pick, a 21.5 percent chance at No. 2, a 17.8 percent chance at No. 3 and a 35.7 percent chance at No. 4.
The Lakers have the second-worst record in the league. They have a 19.9 percent chance of landing the top pick in the lottery, an 18.8 percent chance at No. 2, a 17.1 percent chance at No. 3. Their pick is top-3 protected. If it falls to No. 4 (31.9 percent chance) or No. 5 (12.3 percent chance) it goes to the 76ers.
The Suns, who have the third-worst mark in the NBA, have a 15.7 percent chance at No. 1, a 15.6 percent chance at No. 2, a 22.6 percent chance at No. 3, a 26.5 percent chance at No. 4 and a four percent chance at the No. 5 pick in the draft.

The Magic and the 76ers sit at No. 4 and No. 5 in terms of worst record in the league, respectively.
Orlando has a 11.9 percent chance to get the top pick. It has a 12.6 percent chance for No. 2 pick, a 13.3 percent chance for No. 3 pick, a 9.9 percent chance for No. 4 pick, a 35 percent chance for No. 5 pick, a 16.1 percent chance for No. 6 pick and a 1.3 percent chance of landing the No. 7 pick.
Philadelphia has an 8.8 percent chance at No. 1 and a 9.7 percent chance at No. 2 and a 10.7 percent chance at No. 3. It has a 26.1 percent chance at No. 5, a 35.9 percent chance at No. 6, an 8.4 percent chance at No. 7 and a 0.4 percent chance at No. 8.

Nine other teams are currently in the NBA draft lottery (based on records entering March 14).
Their odds for the No. 1 overall pick (and most likely pick):
The Knicks have a 5.3 percent chance at the No. 1 selection. They have a 43.9 percent chance at No. 6.
The Kings have a 5.3 percent chance at No. 1 and a 57.2 percent chance at No. 7.
The Pelicans have a 2.8 percent chance of landing the top pick and have a 72.5 percent chance of landing the No. 8 pick (which would go to the Kings).
The Mavericks and Timberwolves each have a 1.4 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick. Dallas has an 81.3 percent chance of getting the No. 9 pick in the first round. Minnesota has an 86 percent chance of getting No. 10.

The Hornets have a 0.8 percent chance of landing the top pick and a 90.7 percent chance of getting the No. 11 pick.
The Trail Blazers, Heat and Bulls currently round out the teams in the NBA draft lottery.
Portland has a 0.7 percent chance at the top pick and a 93.5 percent chance at No. 12.
Miami has a 0.6 percent chance at No. 1 and a 96 percent chance at No. 13.
Chicago has a 0.5 percent chance at No. 1 and a 98.2 percent chance at No. 14.
