Walmart and Amazon are hiring nationwide and will host hiring blitzes in the Phoenix area this September.
Walmart wants to hire 20,000 new employees at 250 stores nationwide and will host three hiring events on Sept. 8 and 9 in Buckeye, Glendale and Casa Grande.
Amazon is looking to hire 40,000 “corporate and tech roles,” at 220 locations nationwide plus tens of thousands of hourly workers. The company will host a virtual career training and recruitment event on Sept. 15.
Walmart’s 3 hiring events
Walmart’s hiring blitzes will go from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8 and 9 in Buckeye, Glendale and Casa Grande:
- 23701 W. Southern Ave. Buckeye.
- 6620 N. Sarival Ave. Glendale.
- 868 W. Peters Rd. Casa Grande.
Permanent full- and part-time positions are available at Walmart and Sam’s Club distribution and fulfillment centers and transportation offices. Average pay for supply chain associates is $20.37 per hour, according to the company, and new hires who get vaccinated before Oct. 4 will receive a $150 bonus.
Job offers could be made on the spot, according to the company.
Positions for hire include:
- order fillers.
- freight handlers.
- lift drivers.
- technicians and management positions.

Amazon’s career training and recruitment day
Amazon recently opened a 270,000 square-foot sorting facility in Glendale and a delivery station in Surprise.
The company has “invested more than $16 billion in Arizona since 2010 and has created more than 30,000 jobs” in the state, according to a company spokesperson.
Amazon’s virtual “Career Day,” is billed as an opportunity for all-around career advice and training, at Amazon or another company, and will offer:
- Personalized career-coaching sessions with an Amazon recruiter.
- 1-on-1 career-coaching sessions for Amazon employees looking to grow their careers at the company or elsewhere.
- A seminar providing “candid advice on how job seekers can start, build, or transition their careers.”
