Two 18-year-old men were shot and killed in West Phoenix during a suspected drug transaction Saturday evening, authorities said.

Shortly before 6 p.m. officers responded Banner Estrella Medical Center in response to two men who arrived with critical gunshot injuries, Sgt. Jonathan Howard, a Phoenix police spokesman, said.

Both men died of their injuries, he said.

Howard said a third man, who might be involved in the incident, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot injury. He expected to live.

The investigation revealed the men were involved in a drug sale near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street when they were shot and killed, according to police.
