NFL QB SITUATION RANKINGS: Doubts for Arizona Cardinals?

Yes, there is no denying the importance of the position.

Quarterbacks often get more than their share of the glory for wins and more than their share of blame for losses.

They also get a lot of money.

No Carson Palmer?

Carson Palmer was the No. 4 ranked QB last year and also No. 12 overall in the NFL Top 100 rankings.

He slipped out of the rankings in 2017 and it didn’t go unnoticed.

For The Win’s Steven Ruiz lists the Cardinals QB among the biggest snubs on this year’s list.

He writes: “Statistically speaking, Palmer had a down year. But look at his tape and tell me he’s not one of the 15 best quarterbacks in this league right now. Palmer was consistently facing pressure playing behind a suspect line in an offense that likes to attack downfield. That’s a dangerous combination. He still managed to make a few ‘wow’ throws every week.”

Changes

  • Newton was the No. 1 QB and the No. 1 player overall in last year’s NFL Top 100. He took quite a slip to No. 44.
  • Brady was the No. 2 ranked QB and the No. 2 overall ranking player on the list in 2016.
  • Rodgers was also No. 6 overall in the rankings last season. Smith was also No. 81 overall.
  • Wilson fell from No. 17 to No. 22. Rivers fell from No. 46 to No. 73.
  • Roethlisberger went up one spot from No. 22 in 2016. Brees gained 14 spots after being No. 30 a year ago.
  • Cousins gained 15 spots after being No. 85 last season. Luck went from being No. 92 in 2016 to No. 51 in 2017.
  • After being ranked last season, Andy Dalton, Eli Manning and Blake Bortles all weren’t ranked in 2017, just like Palmer.
  • At No. 100 last year, Carr just snuck into the rankings. He jumped all the way to No. 11 in 2017.
  • Ryan, Prescott, Stafford, Mariota and Winston were not ranked a year ago.
