The Pac-12 Media Days continue on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Six of the teams plus the conference commissioner took the podium on Wednesday, including Rich Rodriguez of Arizona.

The other six, including Arizona State’s Todd Graham, will meet the media on Thursday.

Doug Haller is in Los Angeles and will provide live coverage of ASU’s media sessions.

Follow along here for live updates from the two-day event.

News from Wednesday

Contract extended with Levi’s Stadium: Commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday that the Pac-12 has extended its contract to continue playing the conference title game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The home of the San Francisco 49ers, the Pac-12 championship has been played at Levi’s Stadium since 2014.

Commercials, halftime reduced: Scott also announced that in addition to experimenting with shorter commercial breaks, halftime periods in games will be reduced from 20 minutes to 15 minutes.

Replay center announced: The conference will now have a replay command center at Pac-12 headquarters in order to help replay officials during games.

Rich Rodriguez: My-King Johnson sexual orientation should ‘not be a story’

Arizona Wildcats head coach Rich Rodriguez met with the media on Wednesday and was asked about incoming freshman My-King Johnson, who is set to become one of the first openly gay scholarship players in major-college football history.

Johnson, a three-star defensive end out of Tempe, told the Arizona coaching staff that he was gay during the recruiting process.

“His personal lifestyle should not be a story,” Rodriguez told reporters. “What should be a story is how he’s going to play on the field. And for us that’s the way we’re treating it.”

While Rodriguez understands the line of questioning, he hopes that eventually Johnson’s play will be the reason for media attention.

“When they start making plays … then let’s talk about that as a story,” Rodriguez said. “I hope it gets to the point where (his sexual orientation) is not a story.”

Arizona State and U of A are both bringing up the rear in the Pac-12 preseason media poll announced on Wednesday.

The Sun Devils and Wildcats rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the South Division. Arizona received the lowest point total of any team (61) in either division. Arizona State got 109 points, the fourth fewest.

USC and Washington each received 309 points and were selected as the favorites in the North and South, respectively. Stanford and Washington State round out the top three in the North; Utah and UCLA finished second and third, respectively, in the South.
