Be prepared to go nuts over the Planters NUTmobile hitting Valley streets this weekend!

The 26-foot-long peanut on wheels will stop at four Phoenix-area grocery stores this week handing out free samples, coupons in promotion of the Kraft-Heinz brand. They will also be hosting games in addition to plenty of opportunities to snap a photo or two for the ‘gram.

Over the course of a year, three groups of of three “Peanutters” will drive coast to coast in the eye-catching vehicle. The team currently in Phoenix has totaled 4,000 miles since departing from Madison, Wisconsin on June 20, Peanutter Maggie Baruffi said.

The frequent supportive honks on busy roadways while driving “Shelly” have taken some getting used to, said Baruffi.

“It’s fun to see how excited people are about it,” she said. “Some have said it makes their day and that’s really cool to hear.”

In February, The Arizona Republic shelled the 26-foot-long peanut and got a glimpse inside.

Down to meet Mr. Peanut? Stay salty at home or visit one of these spots to get a glimpse:

  • Thursday, July 27: 12-5 p.m., Bashas’ – 4940 S Gilbert Road, Chandler, AZ
  • Friday, July 28: 12-5 p.m., Bashas’ – 1133 N Ellsworth Road, Mesa, AZ
  • Saturday, July 29: 12-5 p.m., Bashas’ – 15367 W Waddell Road, Surprise, AZ
  • Sunday, July 30: 12-5 p.m., Bashas’ – 5155 N Dysart Road Suite #150, Litchfield Park, AZ

A visit to the massive “dry-roasted, lightly salted” vehicle can give back, too, Baruffi said. Those who post snapshots of the NUTmobile on social media using the hashtags #SeeTheWorld2017 and #Donate will help parent company Kraft-Heinz add a food donation to charity.

The NUTmobile will depart the Valley at the end of the week and hit the road again to California.
