And now we pause to bid “adieu” to the Attorney General’s Office.

Not AG Mark Brnovich, or his many attorneys and investigators, but to the two-block-long, single-corridor edifice known as the state Department of Law, aka, the AG’s office.

The AG is moving into new headquarters on North Central Avenue, effective Monday. And we’re not hearing any laments about leaving the linear building on the Capitol Mall.

“No!” AG spokeswoman Mia Garcia said when asked if she’ll miss the old office. “It was not secure.”

Tales abound of unsavory things being found — or happening — near the building, which is across the street from a homeless shelter.

The long, long hallway at the office cried out for a Segway, or at least roller blades, for staffers. Former AG Terry Goddard used to call it “the green mile,” harkening to the 1999 movie that was popular at the time he served. Well, at least it didn’t lead to an execution chamber.

As for the future of the old building, the state is still working it into its plans for the overall Capitol Mall. One thing is clear: It won’t be turned into a bowling alley.

“It does have a big footprint,” said Megan Rose, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Administration. “It’s not very high, but it is long.”
