A 15-year-old boy told police he was shot while behind a west Phoenix strip mall Monday afternoon, officials said.

Phoenix police responded to a call placed by the teen, who said he was shot behind the mall near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road, police said.

The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening, police said.

Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said officers are searching for witnesses and video surveillance for more information.
