A 13-year-old was arrested after officials say he brought a revolver and a box of ammunition with him to San Tan Junior High School on Tuesday, Chandler police said.

Chandler police responded to the school at 1550 E. Chandler Heights Road, just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, after receiving reports that a student had the weapon and ammunition inside his backpack.

Another student had alerted the school administration that the teen had a weapon, police said.

The revolver was not loaded and the seventh-grader did not brandish it, police said.

The student did not threaten anyone at the school, police said.

The student was booked into the Maricopa County South East Juvenile Detention Facility and faces charges of misconduct involving weapons, carrying a concealed weapon and disruption of an educational facility.
