Jermone Souers has coached his last game at Northern Arizona.

On Monday NAU announced that Souers will not return as the football program’s head coach.

“(He) has agreed to accept a new role with NAU that will focus on athletic fundraising and Native American Initiatives and no longer serve as head football coach,” the university statement read in part.

Souers coached at NAU — his only head coaching post — for 21 seasons, finishing with a 123-114 record. He was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year in 1999.

The Lumberjacks ended their season Saturday with a 31-16 victory over North Dakota.
