Detectives arrested a second man on Sunday in connection with the death of Sasha Krause, a New Mexico woman who went missing and was found dead in northern Arizona.

Krause, 27, was first reported missing from Farmington, New Mexico, in January. She was last seen picking up items from a church on January 18 and was found dead near Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument north of Flagstaff a month later.

On April 21, detectives arrested Mark Gooch in connection with the homicide. Gooch had been an airman stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. Detectives said Gooch traveled to Farmington and was in the area around the time Krause went missing and that he also was near Sunset Crater.

Detectives arrested Samuel Gooch Sunday in Surprise, a press release from the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said.

Samuel is Mark’s brother, according to the Associated Press.

The arrest stemmed from an incident in which Samuel Gooch made arrangements to pick up a gun that Mark Gooch had given to a third party, the release said. Samuel flew from Wisconsin to Phoenix for the meeting with another family member, who police have not identified publicly.

The meeting was facilitated by detectives and agents from the Air Force Office of Investigations, the release stated. Samuel took possession of the gun he believed belonged to Mark, and detectives arrested him, the release said.

Samuel was arrested and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on suspicion of hindering prosecution and attempting to tamper with physical evidence in the investigation of the murder of Krause, according to the release.

The other family member was released with no charges at this time, the Sheriff’s Office said.
