Pima County officials arrested and charged a man with first-degree murder in connection to the death of his wife, whose body was found in a canyon in Green Valley on Wednesday.
Ronald Carpenter, 83, was arrested Thursday in the investigation of the death and disappearance of 82-year-old Mollie Snyder, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
Snyder had been reported missing from her home in Green Valley on Aug. 30.
Later that morning, officials located Snyder’s unoccupied vehicle in Box Canyon east of Green Valley, the sheriff’s office said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched a search that was temporarily suspended due to dangerous weather conditions.
The search continued Sept. 1 and Snyder’s body was found in the canyon that morning with obvious signs of trauma, the sheriff’s office said.
An investigation was ongoing.
