A 58-year-old man was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder in a Sept. 19 stabbing death near 24th Avenue and Thomas Road, Phoenix police said.

Richard Rains, 58, was taken into custody in the death of Nicholas Rugolo, 34.

Rains and Rugolo argued, and Rugolo was stabbed with a knife, according to Sgt. Vince Lewis, Phoenix police spokesman.

Lewis said Rugolo was able to walk a short distance before collapsing.

Rains walked to a nearby business and called police to notify them of the stabbing and waited for officers to arrive, Lewis said.
