Phoenix police are searching for the driver of a truck who killed a pedestrian and drove away Saturday night. 

The fatal hit-and-run collision took place just before 7:30 p.m. near the 1400 block of 16th Street, south of East McDowell Road, according to police. 

The pedestrian, 66-year-old Rafael Martinez Garcia, was hit by a white Ford flatbed truck travelling northbound while he was crossing the intersection. 

Police said the driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene. 

The truck, investigators said, was involved in the collision and was captured on surveillance video from a nearby gas station, continuing westbound on East McDowell Road.
