Phoenix have identified the man killed in a reported home invasion Friday in northwest Phoenix.

The 40-year-old resident told police two men forced their way into the house in the 5600 block of North 34th Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The man retrieved a handgun and shot at the two men, who fled in a red truck, the man told police. A second man in the house, who is 43 years old, sustained a minor injury, police said.

About 30 minutes later, Leandro Torres Jr., 38, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a red truck that had crashed in the 2500 block of West San Miguel Avenue.

Torres’ weapons matched those described by the resident. The second man in the truck was still outstanding, said Sgt. Alan Pfohl, Phoenix police spokesman.

The men in the house may have been targeted due to possible illegal activity taking place in the house, Pfohl said. The matter remains under police investigation.
