Phoenix Pinnacle senior quarterback Spencer Rattler left the game Friday against Phoenix Mountain Pointe late in the first quarter with an ankle injury and was expected to spend the second half on crutches.

Rattler was 7 for 9 with 80 yards and a touchdown passing before the injury.

Junior J.D. Johnson, who has an offer from Arizona, came in to replace Rattler and threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Matt Goodlow and 15-yard score to Marcus Libman to give Pinnacle a 28-14 lead with eight minutes left in the half.

Rattler tried walking and jogging along the track but was back on the trainer’s table with his right leg propped up.

UPDATE: Later in the first half, Pinnacle also saw its top running back, Matt Goodlow, limp off the field with an injury.
