Phoenix police continue to search for a driver who hit a pedestrian Thursday night and fled.

The pedestrian remains in “extremely critical condition,” Phoenix police said Friday.

The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. at Cave Creek Road and Aire Libre Avenue, just south of Bell Road, police said. After the pedestrian was struck, the driver initially remained at the scene but later left, police said.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a newer model black Nissan Altima. Investigators believe that the car may have damage to its passenger-side windshield.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Phoenix Police Department.
