Phoenix police Sgt. Alan Pfohl talks about an officer-involved shooting July 20, 2017, in the Moon Valley neighborhood.

A Phoenix police officer shot at a man who struck a patrol vehicle while trying to drive away from officers responding to a suspicious vehicle call Thursday morning, officials said.

Antonio Garcia Goff, 22, was taken into custody around noon after an intensive search, according to Sgt. Alan Pfohl.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the suspect had a gunshot wound, but officials said he was being treated for a K-9 bite to the leg and another minor injury.

Pfohl said officers encountered Goff while responding to a suspicious vehicle call near Seventh Street and Coral Gables Drive.

Pfohl also said Goff began to drive away in a white Toyota Camry as officers arrived and, in the process, hit a police vehicle.

One of the officers fired at least one shot at the vehicle, but it wasn’t clear if Goff had been hit, according to Pfohl.

No officers were hurt during the incident.

Goff was booked into a jail on an outstanding warrant as well as aggravated assault on a police officer and trespassing, Pfohl said.
