Phoenix police on Sunday morning arrested three men suspected of going on a robbery spree and shooting a woman during one of the robberies, a police spokesman said.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard said the men tried to rob two convenience stores on 27th Avenue between Dunlap and Missouri avenues about 4 a.m. In these two cases, police said, the men tried to enter the stores while displaying their handguns, but fled because the doors were locked.

Then, the men entered a store at 19th and Glendale avenues, assaulted the store clerk and shot the employee’s friend, Howard said. The friend was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
