The Phoenix Mercury are expanding their partnership with Fry’s Food Stores to include the Fry’s logo on player jerseys coinciding with the team’s 25th anniversary season.

Fry’s become the Mercury’s third jersey partner since 2009 following LifeLock and most recently Talking Stick Resort/Casino Arizona. The Mercury were the first WNBA team and second in American sports history with a sponsor branded uniform.

The jersey logo announcement was made Monday in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

“Fry’s Food Stores is more than just a partner, they’re an invested supporter of women and girls and the Phoenix Mercury,” said Vince Kozar, Mercury chief operating officer, in a statement. “In Fry’s, we have a partner who shares our values of equality and representation for women whether on a basketball court, in an office or in a store.”

The Mercury also has a ticket promotion with Fry’s. Each summer, Mercury players make a “trade place” appearance with store workers during a Fry’s appearance that includes a shopping spree for a deserving mother from the Save the Family Foundation of Arizona.

Fry’s also is sponsor of the Mercury’s season long Believe in Women campaign honoring Arizona women.
