Connecticut Sun vs. Phoenix Mercury, IMG Academy, Bradenton, Florida, 4 p.m. Wednesday, Fox Sports Arizona+/Facebook — The Mercury (12-8) and Sun (10-10) meet for the second time in three days with Phoenix trying for a split after losing 85-70 on Monday. Mercury F Nia Coffey (foot) has been ruled out for the game while C Kia Vaughn (knee) and F Alanna Smith (ankle) are questionable. If all three can’t go, the Mercury would be back down to seven available players and need a starter to replace Vaughn. G Skylar Diggins-Smith was named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week. The Mercury remain sixth in the Associated Press WNBA power poll. The WNBA playoffs will begin Sept. 15 with the Mercury almost certainly playing a first-round elimination game. The Mercury’s regular season finale is Friday, four days before the playoffs begin.
