The Phoenix Mercury have five games left to get into position for the WNBA playoffs. 

They play three games this week: Tuesday against the Mystics, Friday against Indiana, Sunday against Los Angeles. All five remaining games are at home.

Outlook: The Mercury (16-13) are 5-7 at home, where they play their final five regular-season games. First up is Washington (16-11) in yet another season-series-deciding game that could figure into playoff seeding. Phoenix lost to the Mystics 103-95 on June 30 and won 84-74 on July 30, the game in which F Sancho Lyttle suffered a season-ending knee injury. F Devereaux Peters has been re-signed to a second seven-day contract. She has played in two Mercury games so far. The Mercury are coming off a 1-2 week, losing to Seattle and Los Angeles and beating Las Vegas. They are 2-8 in their past 10 games, dropping to sixth in the WNBA with eight teams advancing to the playoffs. … Four games separate second through eight place through Monday. … Washington is in fourth place and awaiting word from the league office whether it will earn a win by forfeit for a game against Las Vegas last week when the Aces had extensive travel problems and refused to play citing health concerns. … The Mystics won 76-74 at Dallas on Sunday despite just five points from F Elene Delle Donne. … Chelsea Clinton will be on hand for Tuesday’s game, where she will be signing her book “She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World” for fans purchasing tickets to the meet-and-greet.
