Here are the details on the restaurants that Maricopa County inspectors cited for four or more priority violations during the week of July 16. 

A priority violation is a major violation that contributes to increasing the risk of foodborne illness or injury. If listed in the reports, remedies implemented during inspections are included.

At the bottom, see a sampling of the many restaurants graded as an A for no violations.

5 violations

Pitic Restaurant, 1508 E. Pima St., Suite 108, Phoenix.

  1. Employee handled raw beef and washed hands for less than 5 seconds. | Rewashed.
  2. Cracked an egg and didn’t change gloves or wash hands before handling other food. | Washed hands.
  3. Shredded beef stored at improper temperature. | Discarded.
  4. Horchata stored at improper temperature. | Discarded. 
  5. Sanitizer too concentrated in spray bottle. | Discarded.

The Stand Burger and Tacos, 3538 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.

  1. Employee touched raw burger and ready-to-eat cheese without changing gloves or washing hands. | Discarded and washed hands. 
  2. Slicer had food debris on it. | Disassembled and washed. 
  3. Cooked jalapeños and onions held at improper temperature. | Reheated. 
  4. Tomatoes and cut lettuce stored at improper temperature. | Moved to cooler.
  5. Drain line didn’t have air gap between rim of sink and end of line.

Curry Bowl Indian Restaurant, 955 W. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler.

  1. Employee touched raw chicken and rinsed hands off. | Washed properly. 
  2. Hose with dirt and organic debris touching ice in ice machine. | Discarded ice and hose. Cleaned ice machine.
  3. Tomato gravy at improper temperature. | Reheated.
  4. Chicken cooling on three-compartment sink with sanitizer and water in sink. | Moved.
  5. Shredded lettuce and tomato in grocery bag. | Discarded.

4 violations

The Oasis Snack Bar at The Arizona Grand Resort 7777 S. Pointe Pkwy., Phoenix.

  1. Employee handled potable ice without washing hands. | Washed and put on gloves.
  2. Cut cabbage, cheese, cooked burger patties and other foods stored at improper temperatures. | Moved to cooler. 
  3. First-aid kit stored above prep table. | Moved.
  4. Support spring missing on hose, allowing hose to extend below flood rim. 

Einstein Bros. Bagels, 10250 N. 90th Street, Scottsdale.

  1. Employee handled cellphone with gloved hand and then food without changing gloves. | Washed hands and changed gloves.
  2. Container of unpasteurized, uncovered eggs held above salad. | Reorganized.
  3. Sanitizer buckets below acceptable concentration. | Remixed.
  4. Self-serve creamer carafes weren’t discarded at proper times. | Discarded. 

Ban Chan 2909 S. Dobson Road, Mesa.

  1. Raw chicken stored above raw pork and other frozen foods. | Reorganized.
  2. Soup in 10-gallon bucket improperly cooled.  
  3. Cut lettuce, bok choy and mixed greens at improper temperature. | Discarded.
  4. Liquid bandage and vaseline stored on same shelf as utensils. | Moved to first-aid box.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill, 2218 E. Williams Field Road, Gilbert.

  1. Eggs stored above sour cream. | Reorganized.
  2. Dishwasher didn’t reach proper temperature. | Repaired. 
  3. Chop slicer had dried food on blades and rubber stoppers. | Sanitized.
  4. Lettuce had prep date of over a week earlier. | Discarded.
