The heavy fog that settled over the Phoenix area early Wednesday was expected to last through late morning.

A dense fog advisory was issued for the lower deserts, including the greater Phoenix area, through 11 a.m., the National Weather Service tweeted around 5 a.m.

Motorists were advised to drive with caution.

Other areas affected by the heavy fog are the far West Valley, Pinal County and Yuma County.

The lingering fog and low clouds are expected to keep temperatures on the cool side Wednesday with highs in the mid-60s, according to the Weather Service. A warming trend is expected to follow in the days ahead, leading to the mid-70s by the weekend.
