An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his 15-year-old sister Friday, Phoenix police said.

Officers responded to a home in the 2000 block of West Sherman Street at 5 p.m. after receiving a report of a man with a gun.

When they arrived, they contacted the armed 18-year-old and took control of his weapon before detaining him, Phoenix police said.

Officers later found the 15-year-old girl in a bedroom, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Additional details were not available Friday night, and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
