Police declared a Peoria Walmart safe Sunday afternoon after evacuating the store because of a bomb threat.
Officer Brandon Sheffert of the Peoria Police Department said someone called the Walmart Peoria Supercenter near Deer Valley Road and 95th Avenue and said there was a bomb in the trash can.
He said the store was evacuated as a precaution, and officers are investigating.
In a tweet, the Peoria Police Department warned residents around 2:30 p.m. to stay away from the store.
The Glendale Police Department’s bomb squad is assisting Peoria police with the incident. The department deemed the store safe around 4:15 p.m.
