A man died and another person was in critical condition after a car crash in west Phoenix on Saturday morning, according to a news release. 

A 51-year-old man was driving north in a white SUV on 75th Avenue before he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a southbound brown SUV head-on near Osborn Road just after 10 a.m.

The man was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, officials said. A male passenger in his vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to Phoenix Fire Department officials.

The 20-year-old male driver of the brown SUV was also hospitalized. His passenger was treated at the scene, officials said.

Police say it is unknown if alcohol was involved. An investigation is ongoing.
