Phoenix police confirmed that one person is dead in a shooting that involved an officer Friday afternoon.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m., near the intersection of Third Avenue and Culver Street, near Margaret T. Hance park in downtown Phoenix.

“The officer is safe and the suspect is deceased,” Sgt. Alan Pfhol said in an email.

Additional details were not immediately available.
