The restroom at OdySea Aquarium near Scottsdale was voted America’s best restroom in Cintas’ nationwide contest.
OdySea Aquarium near Scottsdale blew the competition for best bathroom (yes, there is a contest for top toilet) out of the water this year. The restrooms have sharks — five different species to be exact.
The up-close encounter with a nearly 10-foot shark as you wash your hands can be a bit intimating. But it’s super cool, too.
The aquarium, which opened in 2016, won America’s Best Restroom contest for 2017. The contest is sponsored by the Ohio-based Cintas Corporation, which specializes in the installation and design of restrooms.

A committee narrowed nominations to 10 finalists that went to an online vote.
In its 16th year, past winners range from over-the-top Victorian bathrooms at Grand Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, to a wall of lush plants at Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia.
At OdySea, the bathroom aquarium is part of the attraction’s largest exhibit: a 400,000-gallon aquarium that includes sharks and many other fish.
“This is one of the many ways we set ourselves apart. It’s incredibly unique; it’s a surprising attribute we give our guests as soon as they walk in,” said Dave Peranteau, director of animal care and conservation.
Visit the nation’s best bathroom, and the aquarium that houses it, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except for Saturdays, when it closes at 8 p.m.
