Home runs by Maddi Hackbarth and Alynah Torres capped a six-run sixth inning Friday as No. 22 Arizona State softball rallied to beat Kansas, 8-5. 

ASU (2-0) also won 10-0 over Portland State at Farrington Stadium on season opening day in the Kajikawa Classic.

The Sun Devils trailed 4-0 vs. Kansas after 3 1/2 innings before scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth including a solo homer by Yanni Acuna. 

Freshman Jazmine Hill singled starting the ASU sixth followed by a throwing error after a pop out, starting a rally that included two-run homers by Hackbarth and freshman Torres.

Madison Preston, a transfer from Alabama, pitched the final four innings against Kansas with six strikeouts for her first win as a Sun Devil.

Cielo Meza pitched a complete game in the opener, which included a homer by Hill in her first college at-bat. 

ASU plays two games again Saturday vs. Western Michigan at 4:30 p.m. and Northwestern at 7.
