Anyone who watches football is a fan of the yellow line showing where the first-down marker is on the field.
NBC, apparently deciding that more is always better, debuted a new colorful graphic during Sunday night’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys: the “Green Zone.”
Essentially, they darkened the area of the field between the line of scrimmage and the yellow first-down line on third downs.
Welcome to the green zone.
On third downs, see just how far players will have to go at any point during the play to get a first down. pic.twitter.com/cCLdkdLjls

If you think that’s unnecessary, you’re hardly alone.
Are you a fan of this new “Green Zone” during the #AZCardinals game? https://t.co/N6nYcXem6x

Wait… what does the “green zone” show you that the yellow line doesn’t? Not a fan. @SNFonNBC#ARIvsDAL

Never in my life do I ever want to have to see The Green Zone on my television screen ever again.

I appreciate the effort, but please immediately remove the “Green Zone” from all future broadcasts

Of course, you’re always going to have someone who goes against the public. Enter, Colin Cowherd!
I like the Green Zone. Good idea. I’m sure Twitter will react w thoughtful nuance for its debut. #snf
