National Weather Service officials confirmed Saturday morning that a landspout tornado set down in Marana, north of Tucson, at 6:55 p.m. Friday. Officials had issued a tornado warning in that area.

According to the National Weather Service, a  landspout tornado forms from the ground upward, unlike supercell tornadoes commonly seen in the Midwest that form from the clouds downward.
