A mulch fire at a Chandler landscaping business was causing “plenty of smoke” to fill skies in the southeast Valley Thursday evening, officials said.

The fire was burning at the Pioneer Sand Company facility on the southeast corner of Arizona Avenue and Willis Road, Chandler fire spokesman Blas Minor said.

Minor said no structures had been damaged and no nearby properties were threatened by the fire Thursday evening.

No injuries were reported.

Minor said residents southeast of the fire would be smelling smoke in the area and that fire crews would be on the scene for “many hours” trying to extinguish the fire.

Residents are urged to avoid the area.
