A motorcyclist was killed and an officer was injured in a collision with a stopped police vehicle Sunday night in Scottsdale, an official said.

Police said the motorcycle was headed west when it crashed into the driver-side door of a police car that had been stopped with its lights on near 64th Street and Camelback Road around 10 p.m.

According to Scottsdale police, the officer was investigating a previous collision.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the police officer was hospitalized for minor injuries.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the officer was working a traffic stop at the time of the collision.
