The body of an 89-year-old Tucson man missing since Aug. 5 was found in a desert area Wednesday, officials said.

Robert Crubaugh was found dead inside a vehicle west of Tucson just before noon, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Crubaugh was last seen on the morning of Aug. 4 and reported missing the next day. Officials had put out a description of the man and a description of his vehicle.

On Wednesday, a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter noticed a vehicle in a remote area and reached out to a local sheriff’s deputy in the area to investigate, officials said.

When Pima County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they discovered Crubaugh’s body in the car, according to a news released from the department.

Detectives were continuing to investigate the death Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
