Olympian Michael Phelps will throw out the first pitch at the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Seattle Mariners game Saturday at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The swimmer, who won 23 gold medals during his Olympic career, is tossing the first pitch in honor of the Michael Phelps Foundation’s commitment to water safety as part of Drowning Impact Awareness Month (August), the Diamondbacks announced.

The foundation has implemented its learn-to-swim, wellness and goal-setting program – IM – this summer in Arizona. It has reached more than 1,000 local children.

The pitch is scheduled to occur at 5 p.m.

Phelps also threw out the first pitch before Game 3 of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Oct. 9 of last season.

He has been a frequent visitor of Arizona sporting events and was even a guest of ASU’s famous Curtain of Distraction in 2016.

Phelps lives in Arizona with his family.
