Police are searching for someone who shot a 35-year-old man on a Phoenix freeway in a Thursday evening road-rage incident, officials said.

The man was shot on Interstate 10, suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The man exited the freeway on 51st Avenue and received help from officials near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road, police spokesman Sgt. Alan Pfohl said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, which patrols Valley freeways, had no immediate information on the shooting.

The victim was taken to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

No further details were immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
