A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot by two people in an area of north Phoenix on Tuesday evening, police said.

The shooting occurred near Seventh Street and Bell Road about 8:30 p.m., said Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard. 

The shooters fled in a vehicle, Howard said.

The man was transported to the hospital in “extremely critical condition,” according to Phoenix fire spokesman Capt. Rob McDade.

Further details were not immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
