Before hitting the Arizona’s trails, consider these six tips for safety.

A 58-year-old man died after dirt biking in the desert near Rio Verde on Saturday, officials said.

A spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said three people were riding on dirt bikes northeast of Rio Verde, which is near Fountain Hills, when one of the riders began to feel sick at about 9:30 a.m.

MCSO helicopters flew to the remote location of the three riders, officials said. Aviation deputies began CPR on the unresponsive man. The helicopter left and picked up fire department personnel to assist while the deputies continued to their attempts to revive the man.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not initially clear whether the man’s death was heat-related or caused by another medical issue. An official cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
