A man died in a fatal shooting on Contractors Way near Tucson on Feb. 25, officials said. 

Luis Lopez, 42, was driving southbound on Contractors Way and Tennessee Street with a passenger when a vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed and shot at him, according to a statement released Wednesday by Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Lopez was driven to a local area hospital and died later, according to the statement.

The Sheriff’s Department didn’t identify the suspect but described the suspect vehicle as late 1990s or early 2000s white Hyundai Sonata with dark tinted windows, a silver front driver side quarter panel, and two grey primer painted areas on the passenger side.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident and is asking for the public’s assistance to seek witnesses or people who have knowledge of the vehicle, Deputy Marissa Hernandez at Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
