Peoria police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex Friday night that left a 46-year-old man critically injured.

Henry Hudson, 38, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and weapons charges when he was found at a Glendale home about five hours after the shooting, according to Officer Brandon Sheffert, Peoria police spokesman.

Sheffert said the shooting took place about 8:45 p.m. Friday in a common area of Cedar Meadows Apartments at 8560 W. Peoria Ave. It was believed the two men knew each other, Sheffert said.

Hudson and the unidentified victim were arguing when several shots were fired, striking the victim at least once, police said. The wounded man walked out to 85th Avenue to find help, Sheffert said.

The shooter fled, Sheffert said.

There were several witnesses, and detectives were quickly able to identify a suspect, Sheffert said. It was unclear if he had left the apartment complex, so several apartments were evacuated as Peoria K9 units, Peoria SWAT teams and other officers searched  for him.

Hudson later was located at a house near 59th Avenue and Royal Palm Road in Glendale and was taken into custody by Peoria police without incident.

Sheffert said Hudson could face more charges “depending on the condition of the victim.”

Peoria police were not seeking additional suspects.

Hudson was transported to Maricopa County’s Fourth Avenue Jail.
