Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier scored $4.9 million on the sale of his 9,326-square-foot Gilbert mansion with a tropical paradise backyard.

The sale of the house with a batting cage, game room, soccer field, windmill and two-story closet with latter, closed on July 31, according to public real-estate records. It’s one of the highest prices ever paid for an East Valley home.

Ethier’s house sold quickly for a high-priced mansion. It was listed for $5 million in March.

Jeff and Sandra Sawyer paid cash for the Gilbert estate.

It doesn’t look like Ethier is leaving the Valley. Recently, he and his wife, Maggie, paid $1.65 million for close to an acre in Phoenix’s coveted Arcadia neighborhood, according to real-estate records.

Several new homes have recently been built around the Ethiers’ new home site.

Sandra Baldwin and Patti Swisher of Launch Real Estate had the listing for the couple’s Gilbert mansion.

Ethier was born in Phoenix and played baseball at St. Mary’s High School and Arizona State University. He has played in the major leagues with the Dodgers since 2006.
